Metro Arts, in association with the Kroger Company, seeks artists residing in the greater Nashville area to create a 12x 5, two-dimensional, indoor artwork for Kroger stores in Murfreesboro and Hendersonville. Size is approximate. The artwork will be prominently displayed within the store dining area, and selected artists will receive a $7,500 commission. The artwork should use local references to evoke a creative and uplifting atmosphere that celebrates the spirit of the neighborhood.
Artwork will not be allowed painted directly onto the wall. Artwork may be installed on canvas, hardboard or another substrate, and must be protected by a clear coat or satin finish to prevent damage by light, moisture, and close public contact.
There is no application fee to enter. 3-5 semi-finalists will be chosen by a selection panel based on their portfolio and their connection to the community. Semi-finalists will receive a $200 stipend for submitting a concept proposal, and one of these artists will be chosen to create the final artwork for the location.
