Youkobo Art Space provides a unique space for wide-ranging international exchange and cross-cultural experience, where foreign and domestic artists and people from the local community can meet and communicate with one another through exhibitions, workshops, lectures, and a variety of other events.

Based in Tokyo with over 10 years of experience of hosting international artists, Youkobo has developed a unique residence program focused on supporting the creative activities of artists. While conveniently located in the west of Tokyo to allow easy access to the center, the Youkobo facility is set within a residential area which provides an environment conducive to work in the studio.

The role of the artist is at the centre of Youkobo’s activities and, by creating a friendly and supportive atmosphere, it aims to give participating artists an enriching experience in the realization of their projects/research in Japan.

Youkobo is involved in the organization of a number of programs strongly rooted in the area, such as the open-air art exhibition “Trolls in the Park” which takes place annually in November, and monthly art workshops for children taking place in local schools. Proposals which give consideration to these programs are also welcome.
